Review: Scramble Kimono Backpack

Summary
Scramble medium sized backpack is large enough to carry all your every day jiu jitsu training uniforms and accessories. With padded back area and decent strapping it is a well made, functional and stylish item for transporting your gear.

Available from: Scramble webstore
Cost: £54.99 GBP

I was sent this Scramble backpack for personal use and review.

Full disclosure - my company Meerkatsu has some business related ties to Scramble (they handle all my clothing distribution).

Here are some photos and descriptions:-

Coloured dark grey, the main design feature of this bag is that large overlapping front flap section which clips on to the main compartment. The outside of that main compartment has a very large diagonal zip pocket. The whole bag measures 50cm tall x 35 cm wide

The back panel is well padded for comfort and the straps are nicely adjustable with a horizontal connecting strap across the shoulder straps. There is a handy top handle too.

The front flap opens out to reveal an inner zip pocket that is useful for storing wallet and phone.

The side of the bag features vinyl Scramble logo and in this photo you can also see the laptop compartment zip.

I managed to easily fit my iPad Pro 12" tablet into the laptop compartment. Anything bigger though might be a tight squeeze.

The interior of the main compartment is ample in size and I like that the zips extend very far down each side, making it easy to add and remove bulky items.

A single side pocket for storing water bottle - it seems large enough to accommodate an average width bottle.

I was able to easily store all the above items into the Scramble Kimono backpack.

Front, side and other side views

This is the bag fully loaded with items in the photo previous. The bag itself is very light and the weight was nicely distributed across my shoulders. In most cases I wouldn't carry that much gear so it's very easy to sling across one shoulder and use as an everyday shoulder bag.

Conclusion
This is a very handy and well thought out backpack. It is large enough to carry a lot of training gear but small and light enough to not be too much of a burden. I like the laptop compartment and the secret pocket inside the front flap. I haven't tested it out in the rain but I'll assume that since it is made from synthetic materials, the bag is reasonably shower proof.
