Navy is definitely the new black. This dyeing malarkey could get addictive.
Question - is navy allowed in IBJJF comps?

that does, in fact, look freakin' sexy.
Nice work, Meerkatsu! Looks cool. For me, when I've changed colours (rather than re-dyeing back to original glory) I've been disappointed that the non-cotton thread doesn't take the dye. It is what it is. Fun to give an old gi a new lease on life!
Looks awesome!
At least in IBJJF comps it's legal. None of the rules specify what "shade" of blue... or even that the whole gi is evenly blue. Just that you gotta wear blue, white or black, and you can't mix and match i.e. blue pants, white top.
Baby blue-- navy-- robin's egg-- cerulean... it's all good! And I saw many navy blue gis this weekend at the IBJJF I attended.
Looks cool. Won't be legal though. Uncle Austin from LFF dyed his tatami zero gi a similar colour. At the europeans he was sent away to find another gi to wear. I'd bring a spare, just in case....
and i just bought the blue koral mkm when i could have done this myself....
why was i not thinking??
@Rowdy - the Dylon dye costs £5.50 a packet and salt was about a pound, so altogether touch under £20 to dye it. I would imagine your navy blue MKM would be about £20 dearer than the MKM white, so it saves you a lot of hassle.
Also, my dye job is a little patchy, you can't see it in the photos, but I reckon it'll look a bit more patchy after I wear it and wash it again. We'll see. Just did it for fun...next colour...Tangerine!!!
Awesome. That looks really, really good.
I'd make sure it's colorfast lest you unintentionally smurf your sparring partners when the gi gets sweaty. :)
Very slick and awesome looking!
I've seen Navy blue at ibjjf comps. Also, everyone should be bringing 2 gis to competitions just in case anyway =)
goodwork brother!
Thanks for the comments and advice guys.
Do a green one! I Heard a few whispered comments the first time i rocked up to training in it "hulk" and "ninja turtle" being amoung those I could make out but people were clearly just jealous hehe
Obviously they were GREEN with jealousy!! Bad Pun, I know.
I want to dye my crappy first judo gi! :) Then at least I'd have incentive to wear it. For now it's just a boring white, scratchy gi. If it were a cool color, scratchy gi it would be better!
Hmmm...orange? red? green? PURPLE!
